According to a new study from the REC Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), demand and daily rates for construction contractors are on the rise, as ongoing skills shortages are having a negative effect on companies,

The study from REC found that 63% of recruitment agencies reported that demand for construction contractors has risen over the past year, as they struggle to fill skills gaps across the sector. Although, 69% of companies are now stating that the shortage of skilled workers is their first or second priority risk.

REC Chief executive comments, ‘The UK is close to full employment and building firms are already struggling to find the people needed for major infrastructure projects’.

Recruiters are also echoing this view, with 59% believing that the current UK economy would intensify skills shortages.
